Mal Edgson BSc Hons, Dip Mgt, is Chief Executive of Torfaen Citizens Advice Bureau and Monmouthshire Citizens Advice sharing time between the two.
Mal has 30 years experience leading third sector organisations and has particular experience in charity governance, strategic change and financial management.
Mal has been Chief Executive of Citizens Advice Torfaen since 2012 and of Monmouthshire County Citizens Advice since 2021.
Darren
Operations Manager
Darren
Darren is the operations manager with over 12 years’ experience working in Monmouthshire County Citizens Advice.
Darren began volunteering in 2012 before being assigned a welfare benefit project that he still runs to this day. In addition, he manages several projects across the county, primarily dealing with benefits, debt, financial inclusion and energy advice. He is also active in the community, often at events or roadshows across Monmouthshire, promoting scams awareness or energy support packages.
Darren was appointed to the operations role in early 2023 and oversees the day to day management of our offices across the county. He is heavily involved in our business development and funding acquisition, and the wellbeing of all staff and volunteers who support our service.
Aneta
Advice Services Manager
Aneta
Aneta is the Advice Service Manager across Monmouthshire County Citizens Advice. Aneta has 17 years of experience working in Citizens Advice.
Aneta began as a volunteer in 2006 at Torfaen Citizens Advice and has worked in various roles within the organisation from Administrative Assistance, to Cert MAP Debt Adviser and has been a part of the Senior Management Team since 2022.
Aneta is responsible for making sure that we continue to offer free, impartial and confidential advice services as well as good quality advice accessible to all members of the Monmouthshire community.

Sue
Sue has been with the bureau since March 2023, having spent most of her career in Customer Service and administration roles, and has had experience running her own business. She also has over 4 years of experience within volunteer governance.
Her role includes the administration of the organisation, including auditing, health & safety matters, policies & legal compliance. Sue also supports and works closely with the Board of Trustees on a regular basis.
Sue has enjoyed being a part of the local community for over 35 years and is proud to work somewhere that can make a difference for those who need our help.
Eirian
Finance Officer
Eirian
Eirian is our Admin Finance Officer and has 4 years’ experience of working for Monmouthshire Citizens Advice.
Eirian started as a volunteer for Citizens Advice 2018 before moving into paid roles as Admin Finance officer in 2020 for 2 days a week and additionally took on the role of Benefit and Debt adviser as a job-share in 2021.
Eirian is skilled in reporting, finance and organisational matters and liaises with other managers, staff, volunteers, trades persons and our accountants on a daily basis. Eirian is responsible for our financial accounts which includes paying suppliers, payroll, invoicing and procurement. Eirian supports reporting to our funders as well as producing all financial reporting to our Treasurer, CEO and to Cita. Eirian is also our facilities manager and also administers our HR system.
Prior to working for Citizens Advice, Eirian worked for a number of years as a Business Analyst working in the Retail and Insurance industry and has extensive experience of project management, account management as well as analysis skills working for major organisations.
Tracey

Tracey
Tracey began volunteering at Abergavenny and Caldicot CA many years ago, before leaving to pursue other interests. Returning to CA a few years ago she was volunteering at Torfaen CA before accepting a new role on the Claim What’s Yours helpline.
Tracey returned to Monmouthshire taking a position of Advice Service Team Leader based at Chepstow and Caldicot offices from 2022.
Steve

Steve
Steve started work in the finance department of what is Now Monmouthshire County Council before moving on to undertake a Business Studies degree as a mature student.
From there he worked in both publishing and Import / Export Management supervising and training a number of staff and providing expert advice to the management teams of both businesses.
A further career change led to a long career in the Police Service covering a number of different roles, but primarily specialising in supervising safeguarding, life time resource management, Rural Crime, partnership working with Probation Wales, the Youth Justice team, Monmouthshire Community Safety and the Events Safety Advisory Group amongst others. He was also the local point of contact for PREVENT.
Steve has been Team Leader since October 2022.
